Austin Hideaway: A Night at Hotel Saint Cecilia
Shhhhh…
Hey BFFs — Happy Easter! Okay… maybe the secret is officially out. Austin has its fair share of Michelin stars, James Beard darlings, and “you have to go here” spots. But just when you think you’ve seen it all… you stumble into something that feels like it’s been quietly passed between insiders, tastemakers, and that one friend who always knows exactly where to stay.
Enter: Hotel Saint Cecilia.
And here’s the thing… it’s not about just one standout moment. It’s the layering. The mood. The details that don’t scream, but somehow stay with you long after checkout.
👇 Scroll down because I’m breaking down exactly what made this place feel so special to me. Cheers & martinis, Frances @GalOffDuty 🍸

An Austin Hideaway: A Night at Hotel Saint Cecilia
Some hotels are nice. Some are cool.
And then there are the ones that feel like a little secret you almost want to keep to yourself.
That’s exactly how I felt staying at Hotel Saint Cecilia.
Tucked away just off South Congress in Austin, TX, the hotel only has 20 rooms, which instantly makes the entire experience feel intimate, calm, and incredibly private. The kind of place where you feel like you’re staying somewhere special the moment you arrive.
And somehow… they make you feel like you’re the most important guest there. Not in an over-the-top luxury way — but in that effortless, quiet hospitality that’s actually harder to do.
Our Room (The One Everyone Wants)
We stayed in Room 14, which I later learned is one of the most loved rooms on the property.
But honestly?I don’t think there’s such a thing as a bad room here.
Ours just happened to be right next to the pool, which is basically the heart of the property — lush, calm, and very Austin in that understated cool way.
You step outside and you’re instantly there.
Morning coffee by the pool.Late afternoon margarita.A little quiet moment before heading out to dinner.
It’s the kind of setup that makes you want to slow down.

The Pool Bar / Lounge Situation
Let’s talk about the margaritas.
Dangerously good.
And then there’s the smash burger, which I was not expecting to be that good at a boutique hotel — but somehow it was exactly what you want after a poolside afternoon.
Simple. Perfect. No notes.
Breakfast on the Terrace
The next morning we ordered breakfast and had it delivered to our terrace.
Fresh baguette, fruit, and what might honestly be the best brown butter I’ve ever had.One of those small details that somehow makes the whole moment feel elevated.
And if you know me, you know I’m extremely picky with coffee…
They got the order perfect.
Which is rare enough that it deserves to be mentioned. Pro Tip: Order an Espresso, Breakfast Hash, then end with the house Bloody Mary.
The Bunkhouse Touch
Because it’s a Bunkhouse Hotels property, you already know the details are going to be dialed in.
And yes — the robe is exactly the kind of robe you wish you could casually pack in your suitcase.
The whole hotel has that signature Bunkhouse energy: thoughtful design, effortless cool, and service that feels natural instead of scripted.
The Kind of Place You Want to Return To
Some hotels impress you.
Others just feel right.
Saint Cecilia is definitely the second kind.
Between the privacy, the service, the pool, the rooms, and the little details they get so right… it’s the kind of place you leave already thinking about when you’ll come back.
And honestly?
I’m already counting the days.
