Coffee Lingo 101
The Demanding Coffee Girl (and Proud of It ☕️)
Happy Wednesday, babes! ☕
Today we’re talking coffee—aka my love language. As a proud Puerto Rican, I swear I came out of the womb with a built-in espresso palette. And let’s just say, with a tiny bit of age (not too much, lol), I’ve perfected my morning coffee ritual into an art form.
Below, I’m spilling my Coffee 101 tips—from foam to the lingo to that inevitable espresso martini moment.
👇 Drop your hacks too, because I know this crew has taste.
Cheers & Caffeine, Frances GalOffDuty
Today’s newsletter is fueled by Trade ☕ Because life’s too short for bad coffee. Trade hooks you up with the finest small-batch roasters across the country—the kind of spots you’d brag about visiting if they were in your neighborhood.
Here’s the tea (or coffee): 50% off your first subscription box Tell Trade your vibe (taste, grind, how much you caffeinate) ☕ They’ll match you with your perfect roast
No risk. Just delicious coffee, supporting local roasters, and one less “ugh” item on your grocery list.
Go ahead, upgrade your mornings—you deserve it.
FOOD + DRINK
Daily dose ☕️ linked my espresso machine for you guys — it’s a game changer.
I’ll admit it… sometimes I feel way too specific when I order coffee. You know the kind of order that makes the barista pause and give you a second look? Yeah, that’s me.
My go-to? An extra-dry cappuccino. Translation: tons of foam, way less milk, and that strong coffee punch coming through. Basically, all the drama of the foam with none of the heaviness of steamed milk. I can’t help it—I don’t really love milk, so I’m that person who tries to make it very, very clear when I order. Foam queen over here
Sometimes I wonder if I sound like such a snob when I say it out loud—but then I take that first sip, and I remember exactly why I do it. Coffee is serious business (or at least it is before 10 AM).

Tips for Ordering Coffee Like a Pro
Know your foam game → Dry vs. extra-dry vs. wet makes all the difference.
Dial up the strength → Love it bold? Ask for an extra shot.
Milk swaps matter → Oat for creamy, almond for light, soy for nutty.
Temperature trick → Say warm, not hot if you want to sip instantly.
Sweeten smartly → Cinnamon or cocoa powder = flavor without sugar crash.
