Loving Your Scars
My Journey with Scars (and How I Care for Them)
Happy Sunday, babes!
We’re going a little deeper today. When I was 18, I had major spine surgery for scoliosis—and yep, it left its mark (literally). But scars don’t have to be scary or dramatic. They can be part of your story, and part of your glow.
Below, I’m sharing how I’ve learned to own my scars—plus a pro tip on caring for them so they feel a little less intimidating and a lot more empowering.

WELLNESS & BEAUTY

We all have stories written on our skin. Some are tiny reminders, others are bold chapters. For me, my back tells two: one is the long scar from my scoliosis surgery when I was 18, and the other is from a much less dramatic moment — falling while walking my dogs (not as cool, but definitely part of my story ). For a long time, I used to see them as imperfections. I’d try to cover them, hide them, or pretend they weren’t there. But over time, I realized something: my scars aren’t flaws. They’re proof of what I’ve gone through, of healing, of resilience. They’re symbols of survival and growth — and I wouldn’t be me without them. If you’ve ever felt insecure about your scars, here are a few things that helped me shift my perspective:
1. Reframe the story. Instead of seeing your scar as damage, see it as a reminder of what you overcame. Each one is proof of strength.
2. Treat your body with kindness. Whether it’s moisturizing, protecting your skin from the sun, or simply looking at yourself in the mirror and saying something kind — little acts of care make a huge difference.
3. Don’t compare. Everyone’s skin tells a different story. What makes you unique is not supposed to look like anyone else.
4. Share your story. When you open up about your scars, you might be surprised at how many people relate. There’s so much power in realizing you’re not alone.
5. Wear them proudly. The moment you stop hiding them, you take back your power. Your scars are not something to erase — they’re part of the masterpiece that is you. So here’s to showing up as we are — scars, stories, and all.
Pro Tip…
I’ve tried a lot of creams, and this one has truly made a difference — and the best part is the price. Highly recommend! 👉 Hyaluronic Acid Cream
