Racing History In Real Time

There are moments in sports that become bigger than the sport itself… and watching the Ortiz brothers make history at the Kentucky Derby felt exactly like that.

Even if you’re not a horse person, it was impossible to escape the emotion, the videos, the interviews, the energy. As a Puerto Rican, seeing two brothers from our island on racing’s biggest stage made it even more special.

But honestly, what moved me the most wasn’t just the history they made — it was the love and respect they have for each other. In such a competitive world, seeing that genuine brotherhood, admiration, and humility is something so rare and beautiful.

And of course, huge shoutout to Cherie DeVaux for becoming the first woman trainer to win the Kentucky Derby. What an unforgettable moment for horse racing.
