My Why: What Keeps Me Going
The work behind the beautiful moments—and why it’s all worth it.
💋 Hey babes — Happy Sunday!
People often see the fun parts: the horse shows, race days, winner’s circle photos, championships, beautiful horses, and, of course, my dogs.
And yes… those moments are incredible.
But behind every beautiful photo is an early morning, a long workday, a newsletter to finish, a meeting to take, an order to handle, a flight to catch, or a setback nobody else sees.
Today, I wanted to share a little more about what keeps me going through all of it—and how staying close to your own “why” can make even the hardest days feel meaningful.
👇 Scroll down for a little Sunday reminder to keep going.
Cheers & martinis!

My Why: What Keeps Me Going
I work hard because it allows me to build a life around the things I love most.
Every sunrise at the barn, every tail wag waiting for me at home, every race, every show, and every small milestone reminds me why I do what I do.
This isn’t just work to me. It’s my passion.
It’s the reason I wake up excited every morning—even on the mornings when the alarm feels slightly less inspiring than the dream.
That’s my why.
And the older I get, the more I realize that your why doesn’t need to sound impressive to anyone else. It only needs to mean enough to you.
How to Find—and Stay Focused on—Your Why
1. Make It Visible
Keep photos, goals, or little reminders somewhere you’ll see them every day.
My horses and dogs are a constant reminder of what I’m building toward. Your reminder might be your family, a place you want to visit, a home you’re creating, or simply the freedom to spend your time differently.
Whatever it is, keep it close.
2. Fall in Love With the Process
The glamorous moments are such a tiny fraction of the journey.
Most of it happens in the early mornings, the ordinary workdays, and the quiet moments when you choose to keep showing up.
Learn to appreciate those small wins. They are what make the big moments possible.
3. Don’t Compare Your Timeline
Everyone sees the finish line. Very few people see the years of work that came before it.
Someone else’s success does not mean you are late.
Stay focused on your path, your pace, and the life you are actually trying to build.
4. Protect Your Time
Spend more time doing the things that move you closer to your goals—and less time on the things that constantly pull your attention away from them.
This one is easier said than done, I know.
But time is one of the few things we can’t replace, so be thoughtful about where yours goes.
5. Celebrate Every Step
Not every victory comes with a trophy or a winner’s circle photo.
Sometimes the victory is simply showing up.
Sometimes it’s staying consistent, getting through a difficult week, or moving one small step closer than you were yesterday.
Those moments count, too.
A Little Sunday Reminder
Your why doesn’t need to be perfect. It doesn’t need to make sense to everyone around you.
It just needs to be strong enough to get you out of bed on the days when motivation doesn’t show up.
Because when your why is clear, the hard work begins to feel like part of the dream—not the price you have to pay for it.
So today, take a minute to ask yourself: What am I building, and why does it matter to me?
Keep that answer close. 🤍
Cheers & martinis,
Frances

P.S. Your why can change as you do. The important thing is making sure the life you’re building still feels like yours.
