Power of Saying Hello
Leaning Into Serendipity
Hey babes — Happy Wednesday!Sometimes the smallest yes opens doors you never even knew were there. I’ve always believed that when you lean in, good things follow. They may not look exactly how you imagined, but showing up with confidence almost always leads somewhere interesting.
I had to share a recent moment from a dinner in Medellín. The small Italian spot is Marzano. It’s delicious. My sister and I were out hunting for new vendors for our boutiques, and in the most unexpected way, the universe delivered.

The Power of Saying Hello
I don’t believe in coincidences.I believe in being open.Dinner in Medellín. An Italian restaurant. A woman walks past my table with her dog—effortless, elegant, the kind of presence that makes you look twice. I almost didn’t say hello. Almost.Truth is, I was missing my dogs and just wanted to pet a dog But I also couldn’t stop thinking about how beautifully she was dressed. There was something so thoughtful about her look—timeless, feminine, and quietly powerful. So I said hi. I gave a compliment. We started talking. One conversation turned into a real connection. What she was wearing? Part of her daughter’s ready-to-wear collection—a designer from Barranquilla with a line that feels intentional, feminine, and so right. Inspiration found me right at the table next to mine.Moments like these are a reminder: when you travel, creativity opens up. You see differently. You feel differently. And if you’re open, magic has room to happen.
A small reminder on how to approach a stranger—gently, kindly, without fear:
• Lead with a genuine compliment — style, energy, presence• Keep it simple — a smile and “hi” is more than enough• Be curious, not intrusive — let the conversation flow naturally• Trust your instinct — if it feels right, it usually is• Remember: connection starts with openness, not perfection
A simple hello. A small instinct followed. And now, a truly special new brand is coming to our stores.Stay tuned — I can’t wait to share what’s next
Cheers & martinis, Frances @GalOffDuty
