The Great Diamond Debate

Let’s Talk Diamonds

Hey babes — Happy Wednesday! Let’s wade into a little sparkle controversy today, because apparently diamonds now come with opinions, group chat debates, and a tiny bit of drama.

They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but lately I’ve been wondering… does she really need to be mined?

Over the last few years, lab-grown diamonds have fully entered the chat, and brands like Goodstone have honestly surprised me with how much they’ve changed my POV.

The Lab-Grown Conversation

The other day I was having lunch with a few girlfriends when the conversation somehow took a turn into… diamonds.

Specifically, lab-grown diamonds.

The Great Diamond Debate

Within minutes we all realized we had the exact same opinion.

Why is everyone so obsessed with whether a diamond was mined or grown in a lab?

The argument I hear most often is, “But they don’t hold their value.”

And honestly?

None of us are buying diamonds because we’re planning to sell them one day.

We’re buying them because they make us smile every time we look down at our hand.

What’s Really “Worth It”?

It made me think about how we decide what’s “worth it.”

I’ve never booked a trip because it had great resale value.

I’ve never justified buying a beautiful handbag because one day I might sell it.

I’ve definitely never ordered the pasta because it was a good investment.

Some things are simply meant to be enjoyed.

Jewelry Should Feel Good

That’s exactly how I feel about jewelry.

If I can get a lab-grown diamond that’s chemically, physically, and visually identical to a mined diamond, and stretch my budget into the size I actually want, I genuinely don’t see the downside.

Personally, I’d rather put the savings toward another adventure, another special piece of jewelry… or let’s be honest, another pair of shoes.

My Latest Sparkle Scroll

Lately I’ve been browsing Goodstone, and I love how they make beautiful, timeless lab-grown diamonds feel approachable instead of intimidating.

It feels like luxury without paying for tradition alone.

The New Luxury Math

Maybe that’s what growing up has taught me.Luxury isn’t about spending the most. It’s about spending intentionally.Buying what you love.Ignoring the noise. And realizing that the best purchases are usually the ones that make your life a little brighter, not the ones someone else approves of.

So Tell Me…

So now I have to ask…Are you team lab-grown like me, or are you still loyal to natural diamonds?I’d genuinely love to hear your take.

Cheers & martinis, Frances @GalOffDuty
